MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
APRIL 24, 1996
sidewalk along the north side of Little Canada Road.
Morelan pointed out that the County has suggested a
crosswalk on McMenemy between the City's parking lot
and the church. Morelan noted that there is no good
place to cross Little Canada Road short of crossing at
Centerville Road, which is a very busy intersection.
Jane Streicker reported that last summer her family
enjoyed Gervais Mill Park and would like to again this
summer. However, it is very dangerous to cross Little
Canada Road because the street is so busy.
Scalze pointed out the paved shoulder along Little
Canada Road, and suggested that a crosswalk be painted
at Noel Drive.
Morelan stated that he did not support an all-way stop
at Little Canada Road and McMenemy, and agreed that a
crosswalk at Little Canada Road and Noel Drive made
sense.
Fahey agreed that Little Canada Road to Noel Drive is
the route the City should encourage for accessing
Gervais Mill Park. Fahey suggested that the County be
requested to paint a crosswalk in this location.
Mrs. Scalze introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 96-4-100 - REQUESTING RAMSEY COUNTY TO
PAINT A CROSSWALK ON LITTLE CANADA ROAD AT NOEL DRIVE
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Morelan.
Ayes (5) Scalze, Morelan, Fahey, LaValle, Pedersen.
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
Helgeson suggested that if an all-way stop is not
installed at the Little Canada Road/McMenemy Road
intersection, that the City look for a way to slow
traffic on Little Canada Road.
Fahey pointed out that the speed limit on Little Canada
Road east of the freeway is 30 miles per hour. Fahey
was not sure there were adequate speed limit signs
along Little Canada Road, and suggested that the County
be asked to look at that.
LaValle asked that the City Administrator obtain the
recent speed report from the Sheriff's Department Smart
15
