MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
JUNE 26, 1996
public.
Upon motion by Fahey, seconded by Scalze, the public
hearing was closed.
Mr. Fahey introduced the following resolution and moved
its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 96-6-152 - TABLING ACTION ON THE MBC
ENTERPRISE REQUEST FOR CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT FOR
EXPANDED PARKING FACILITIES UNTIL THE JULY 24, 1996
REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING, AND INSTRUCTING STAFF TO
RESEARCH THE NATURE OF THE QUICKSILVER BUSINESS AND
DETERMINE ANY APPROVALS THE CITY MAY HAVE GRANTED FOR
THIS BUSINESS, AND REQUESTING THE CITY PLANNER TO MAKE
A RECOMMENDATION ON WHETHER OR NOT THE EXPANDED PARKING
IS APPROPRIATE IN LIGHT OF THE NATURE OF TI-IE
QUICKSILVER BUSINESS
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Scalze.
Ayes (5) Fahey, Scalze, Morelan, Pedersen, LaValle.
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
Lunzer was informed that this matter will be discussed
again at the Council's July 24th meeting at 7:30 P.M.
PUBLIC Fahey opened the Public Hearing to consider the request
HEARING - of Craig Green, APT, for a Conditional Use Permit to
CUP FOR allow construction of a 151.5 foot free-standing
TOWER - cellular tower on the Donovan property located at 53 S.
DONOVAN Owasso Blvd. The Planning Commission passed this
PROPERTY request on with no recommendation. The City Planner
has recommended approval subject to a monopole design
for the tower.
Scalze'pointed out that at the time the Council acted
on the tower request on Viking Drive there was
discussion about towers generating no revenue for the
City since they are considered personal property and no
property taxes are levied on them. Scalze was
concerned with this issue since the City may be faced
with several more requests for towers.
The City Administrator pointed out that Little Canada
has the population and traffic patterns which will
generate more tower requests.
Pedersen asked if Green's system could work using the
existing qrid system of the towers on Highway 36 and on
County Road D.
20
