MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
JUNE 26, 1996
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
RECESS At this point in the meeting, 9:39 P.M., Council took a
short recess. The meeting was reconvened at 9:49 P.M.
PUBLIC Fahey opened the Public Hearing to consider an amending
HEARING - the Zoning Code relating to Conditional Use Permits
AMEND ZONING establishing a maximum limitation for the combination
CODE FOR of garage and accessory building area. The Planninq
CUP'S FOR Commission recommended approval of this amendment.
ACCESSORY
BUILDINGS There was no one from the general public present
wishing to comment on this matter.
Upon motion by Fahey, seconded by Morelan, the public
hearing was closed.
Morelan indicated that he did not think the CUP
amendment establishing a maximum area of 1,500 square
feet for combination garage and accessory space was
necessary. Morelan felt the amendment would encourage
people to apply for the full 1,500 square feet,
resulting in larger accessory buildings in the City.
Pedersen pointed out that the alternative is to do
nothing. Pedersen noted that in some cases lot lines
and available space naturally restrict the size of
accessory buildings.
Fahey felt the maximum was necessary to provide for
consistency and establish standards. Fahey felt 1,500
square feet was a lot of accessory building space, and
the City should discourage anything larger.
Mrs. Scalze introduced the following ordinance and
moved its adoption:
ORDINANCE NO. 437 - AMENDING THE LITTLE CANADA ZONING
ORDINANCE SECTION 903.020 - GENERAL BUILDING AND
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENT5 (ACCESSORY BUILDINGS)
The foregoing ordinance was duly seconded by LaValle.
Ayes (4) Scalze, LaValle, Pedersen, Fahey.
Nays (1) Morelan. Ordinance declared adopted.
PUBLIC Fahey opened the Public Hearing to consider amending
HEARING - amending the Zoning Code revising the permitted uses
AMEND allowed in the PUD Zoning District.
