MINOTES
CITY COUNCIL
JtTNE 26, 1496
housing units by the year 2010. Morelan asked if it
were possible to meet this goal. Morelan further noted
that the Plan identifies there are two dozen owner-
occupied housing units which are not conforming with
Zoning Code and need to be replaced.
The City Planner replied that the saturation point for
Little Canada would be 2,500 to 3,000 additional
population, which would be 1,000 new housing units.
The Planner did not believe 268 additional units would
be out of the question for the City.
Morelan asked if this would include condominiums. The
Planner replied it would, including apartment
conversions to condominiums.
Morelan pointed out that the Plan suggests the adoption
of a housing maintenance code.
The Planner indicated that the City currently does not
have a housing maintenance code. This is something the
City may want to consider. Housing maintenance codes
are common in the Metro area, and are not unusual in
first-ring suburbs.
Morelan pointed out that the Plan calls for a 5-year
review. Morelan suggested this might be too frequent
given the limited amount of developable property in the
City.
The Planner replied that the Met Council prefers the
five-year review period.
Mr. Morelan introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION N0.96-6-147 - APPROVING TIiE CONTINUED
SUPPORT FOR THE METROPOLITAN LIVABLE COMMUNITIES ACT
FOR THE CALENDAR YEAR 1996
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by LaValle.
Ayes (5) Morelan, LaValle, Scalze, Pedersen, Fahey.
Nays (0).
