MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
JULY 24, 1996
Fahey f.elt architectural elements would be addressed on
a case--by-case basis. The architectural guidelines
give the City the ability to coordinate development in
the Rice Street/Little Canada Road area. However,
development will still be different and will reflect
individual taste.
Pedersen stated that he would agree the reference to
French-Canadian theme should be eliminated from the B-3
architectural guidelines.
The City Planner noted that the biggest difference is
in the Rice Street/Little Canada Road area, where
buildings will be pulled to the street giving the area
a downtown feel. In the remaining B-3 areas, buildings
will be pulled back for a suburban look. The
streetscape will look quite different between these two
areas.
Morelan asked if this document got the City where it
wanted to be.
The Planner felt the City will accomplish what it wants
to with the guidelines as proposed.
Mr. LaValle introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION N0. 96-7-177 - ADOPTING THE ARCHITECTURAL
GUIDELINES FOR THE CITY~S B-3 DISTRICTS AS RECOMMENDED
BY THE PLANNING COMMISSION
The foregoinq resolution was duly seconded by Fahey.
Ayes (5) LaValle, Fahey, Morelan, Pedersen, Scalze.
Nay (O).
