MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
AUGUST 28, 1996
CANADA ROAD FROM THE PARK ACQUISITION FUND GIVEN THAT
THIS PROPERTY WAS ACQUIRED FOR OPEN SPACE PURPOSES
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Pedersen.
Ayes (5) Morelan, Pedersen, Scalze, Fahey, LaValle.
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
PARKING BAN The City Administrator reported that the Canabury
oN CANABURY Condominium Association is requesting Canabury
DRIVE FROM Drive from County Road B-2 to Demont Avenue be posted
COUNTY as no parking. There have been vehicles from another
ROAD B-2 multiple-family building parking along the street,
TO DEMONT and there is no apparent reason or need for this
AVENUE on-street parking. The manager of the Grand Pre'
Apartments opposes the ban, but has indicated a no
parking ban on one side of the street would be
acceptable.
Morelan pointed out the road is curvy, hilly, and
heavily traveled. There is adequate on-site parking
for the multiple-family dwelling units, and the on-
street parking is a public safety issue.
Mr. Morelan introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 96-8-207 - AUTHORIZING PUBLIC WORKS TO
POST BOTH SIDES OF CANABURY DRIVE FROM COUNTY ROAD B-2
TO DEMONT AVENUE AS NO PARKING DUE TO PUBLIC SAFETY
CONCERNS WITH THE ON-STREET PARKING OCCURRING ON THAT
STREET
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by LaValle.
Ayes (5) Morelan, LaValle, Pedersen, Scalze, Fahey.
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
PARK It was the recommendation of the Parks & Recreation
MASTER Commission that the Park Master Plan be included
PLAN with the City's submission of the Comprehensive Plan
update to the Metropolitan Council. It was noted that
there are some minor updates necessary to the Park
Master Plan. The Planner indicated that the Met
Council will be reviewing the plan to determine impact
on regional systems, and these minor updates will not
effect the Met Council's review.
Mrs. Scalze introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
18
