MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
AUGUST 28, 1996
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by LaValle.
Ayes (5) Scalze, LaValle, Pedersen, Morelan, Fahey.
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
TENII~ORARY The City Administrator reported it has come to
OUTDOOR staff's attention that when the City amended the
SALE5 B-2 uses which were allowed to roll-over into the B-3
Zoning District, temporary outdoor sales and displays
were inadvertently omitted. Temporary outdoor sales
and displays would cover such activities as Christmas
tree sales at the A& W. Therefore, staff has prepared
an ordinance amendment which would allow temporary
outdoor sales and displays back in the B-3 District.
It was the consensus of the Council to table action on
this matter until its next meeting since it was
included on the "Additions to the Agenda".
Mrs. Scalze introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 96-8-211 - TABLING ACTION ON THE
ORDINANCE AMENDMENT RELATING TO TEMPORARY OUTDOOR SALES
AND DISPLAYS UNTIL TI-IE SEPTEMBER 11TH COUNCIL MEETING
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Morelan.
Ayes (5) Scalze, Morelan, Pedersen, LaValle, Fahey.
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
MAPLEWOOD The City Administrator reported that the City of
OPEN SPACE Maplewood is contemplating the acquisition and/or
PROPOSAL open space designation of a piece of property abutting
Little Canada. The Administrator reported that
Maplewood feels this action will resolve some long-
standing neighborhood issues. There is an access
easement through the property which Maplewood indicated
would be maintained. Maplewood feels the property is
wetland, and, therefore, not developable.
The Administrator pointed out that Little Canada has
two concerns about this proposal. The first is that
the City is planning street and water main improvements
along Arcade Street. Water main could be extended to
serve the Maplewood property. The second concern is
there are deep properties along LaBore Road which may
need access through the Maplewood site in order to
subdivide and develop in the future. The City
Administrator recommended the City seek input on this
issue in order to protect the rights of Little Canada
citizens.
20
