MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
OCTOBER 23, 1996
PUBLIC
HEARING-
TEXT
& CUP FOR
GRAND SLAM-
DI-MED
CORPORATION
typically the month of December has been a very
profitable month, and anticipated between $10,000 and
$12,000 in profit which will be donated to the
projects.
Fahey thanked the Little Canada Fire Department on
behalf of the City Council and the Historical Society
for the generous donation.
Jean Donovan, Historical Society, thanked the Fire
Department for their financial pledge, and more
importantly, for their vote of confidence.
Fahey announced that Little Canada Charity Plus has
indicated a willingness to make a donation to the
Historical Society project. Little Canada Charity Plus
has indicated that the donation will be tied to a
specific project inside the building.
Fahey opened the continuation of the public hearing to
consider the application by Di-Med Corporation for a
text amendment for additional recreational uses in the
BW and I-P Zoning Districts as well as Conditional Use
Permit to allow Grand Slam to locate in their building
at 2956 Yorkton Blvd. Grand Slam has also made
application for an amusement device license. Fahey
reported that the Planning Commission has recommended
approval of the text amendment and the conditional use
permit. Fahey noted that the City has received some
letters of opposition from property owners within the
area.
There was no one from the general public present
wishing to comment on this matter.
Upon motion by LaValle, seconded by Pedersen, the
public hearing was closed.
Mr. LaValle introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION N0.96-10-260 - APPROVING THE TEXT AMENDMENT
FOR ADDITIONAL RECREATIONAL USES IN THE BW AND I-P
ZONING DISTRICTS, APPROVING A CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT TO
ALLOW GRAND SLAM TO OPERATE BATTING CAGES WITHIN THE
DI-MED BUILDING AT 2956 YORKTON BLVD., AND APPROVING AN
AMUSEMENT DEVICE LICENSE FOR UP TO THREE AMUSEMENT
DEVICES FOR THE GRAND SLAM BUSINESS
