MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />AUGUST 13, 1997 <br />Hanson reported that the Minnesota Magic Midway carnival did a <br />disappearing act, however. The Canadian Days Committee regrets the <br />disappointment to children and parents because of this situation, and <br />announced that the Committee would fully refund monies spent on unused <br />ride tickets. Hanson acknowledged and thanked the efforts of Committee <br />members and individuals in locatin~ and running games which served as <br />an alternative to the carnival. <br />Finally, Hanson thanked the businesses, vendors, spectators involved in <br />Canadian Days as well as the visitors from the City of Thunder Bay, the <br />MacGillvrey Pipe Band, and the Eli Road neighborhood. <br />Mayor Fahey thanked the Canadian Days Committee for their extra- <br />ordinary effort and acknowledged the undue stress the Committee suffered <br />because of the situation with the carnival. Mayor Fahey indicated that the <br />actions of the carnival were of great concern to him, and pointed out the <br />additional money which had to be spent by the Committee to provide <br />games at Canadian Days. <br />Mr. Fahey introduced the followin~ resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOI, UTION NO. 97-8-I80 - CAI.I.ING FOR A CI.OSED SES.SION <br />TO DISCUS.S POTGNTIAI. ACTION AGAIN.ST THE MINNESOTA <br />MAGIC MIDWAY CARNIVA7. <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by LaValle. <br />Ayes (4) Fahey, LaValle, Pedersen, Scalze. <br />Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />Fahey acknowledged and thanked the City of Thunder Bay for their <br />donation of a wooden loon to the City of Little Canada. Fahey indicated <br />that the loon will be on display at the City Center. <br />IMPROVEMENT Mayor Fahey opened the public hearing to consider the improvement of <br />HEARING - Centerville Road from approximately 350 feet north of LaBore Road to <br />CENTERVILLE the future Allen Street extension by water main improvement. It was <br />ROAD that there was no one from the general public present wishing to discuss <br />WAT~R MAIN this improvement. <br />The City Engineer reported that the City was recently petitioned by a few <br />of the property owners on Centerville Road for water main. There is a <br />stretch of Centerville Road approximately 975 feet that is not served by <br />water main. As a result of that petition, a feasibility study was conducted <br />2 <br />
