MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />OCTOBER 22, 1997 <br />FIRE RELIEF Fahey pointed out that the Little Canada Fire Department is requesting <br />PENSION an increase in pension benefits from $2,100 per year of service to $2,200. <br />BENEFITS Fahey pointed out that after reviewing this request, the City Administrator <br />has recommended approval. The Administrator reported that the increase <br />works under the guidelines of the policy that was adopted governing when <br />increases could occur. The Administrator reported that State Aid has <br />increased and the fund's investment earnings have done well. <br />LaValle asked if the Fire Relief Pension Board needed to vote on the <br />increase. <br />Joe Vitale, Little Canada Fire Department, indicated that the Fire <br />Department membership could vote on the increase. Vitale reported that <br />he and the City Administrator have reviewed the matter in detail and <br />found that the increase can be supported by the pension fund. <br />Mr. Fahey introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOL UTION NO. 97-10-260 - APPROVING A FIRE RELIEF <br />PEN,SION BENEFIT INCREASE FROM $2,100 PER YEAR OF <br />SERVICE TO $2,200 PER YEAR OF SERVICE EFFECTIVE <br />DECEMI3ER 31, 1997 <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by LaValle. <br />Ayes (q) Fahey, LaValle, Scalze, Pedersen. <br />Nays (0). <br />Abstentions (1) Morelan. Resolution declared adopted. <br />OVERNIGHT Council reviewed the report of the City Administrator regarding the <br />PARKING overnight parking ban on East Rose Place and Sylvan Street north of <br />BAN - County Road C that was imposed a year ago. It was noted that staff <br />EAST ROSE is not recommending a chan~e in the parkin~ ban. <br />PLACE AND <br />SYLVAN STR. Pedersen asked if staff has received many calls regarding the parking ban <br />on Sylvan. The City Administrator reported that initially there were some <br />calls. <br />LaValle indicated that typically there is not a problem at the townhouses <br />on Sylvan. There appears to be vacant on-site parking. There may be a <br />problem on the weekends when there are extra ~uests at the townhomes. <br />18 <br />
