MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
OCTOBER 29, 1997
Fahey stated that he would like to see the matter corrected. It is a bad
situation and should be cleaned up. The Engineer was asked when the
corrections could be done.
The City Engineer indicated that if the corrections are not made within the
next 7 days, they will not be made until spring.
Fahey stated that he would like to see the work done as a change order to
the project this year. Fahey was concerned about Maplewood's reaction.
Morelan pointed out that if the road was not constnzcted according to
plans, there is no issue. The change would involve correctin~ the
situation. The City Engineer agreed that the intersection was not built
according to plan.
Scalze stated that she did not want to see the intersection pushed to the
west since it would bring the intersection closer to property lines.
Morelan felt that any corrections should match construction drawings.
The City Administrator reported that the construction drawings may imply
that the corrections occur on the west side that would have a large impact
on that property owner as well as on the limited snow storage area that
exists to the west.
Morelan was not comfortable voting on this issue at this time, and felt it
more appropriate to consider it at the next meeting when the Council will
have more information.
Fahey stated that he would like to see the matter corrected this year before
the City of Maplewood is lobbied by their resident not to make the
correction.
The City Administrator pointed out that the corrections could be made to
the west, however, he did not support that option and felt the corrections
needed to be made to the east.
Richard Potter, 830 Windrow, pointed out that a couple of years ago the
corner was made sharper. Last fall there was discussion about cuttin~
back that hump which wasn't done. Potter asked why.
The City Administrator reported that the change was made by the County
when they did the Keller Parkway project. The Administrator thought the
change came about in that the Maplewood resident on the corner of Keller
parkway and Arcade Street was concerned about drivers cuttin~ the corner
