MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
JUNE 119 2025
information on the City/County partnership, County leadership transitions, uncertainties related to
federal and state levels, and the 2026-2027 biennial budget.
Commissioner McGuire provided additional information on the community outreach that will be held
related to the budget. She also invited interested residents to apply for the community advisory boards
and commissions and to sign up for her newsletter. She recognized that Little Canada has been a great
partner who hosts amazing community events.
Miller commented that the property tax statement from the county can be very confusing and stated
that perhaps it could be improved to better identify where the increases are coming from.
Commissioner McGuire commented that the County is interested in splitting that out as well, as there
are other entities receiving funds outside of Ramsey County and its cities.
Mayor Fischer commented that many of the calls the City receives related to taxes are not City issues
or questions.
Malone commended the County for its website, noting the efficiency, transparency, and ease of use.
Kwapick commented that he has previously served as an Election Judge and asked about the election
reporting of the County, noting that the results seem to be reported later than others. County Manager
Ling stated that while it seems unusual to have all results driven to the county office rather than
submitted electronically, that is normal statewide, although it is unusual in the metro area. She stated
that they wait until they have all the results before reporting, as people can make assumptions based on
early results that are often not accurate.
Miller noted the new complex at Keller Regional Park and asked what was being built. County
Manager Ling commented on the TuJ Lub courts and noted the grand opening occurring in July.
Mayor Fischer commented on the great partnership between Little Canada and Ramsey County.
CONSENT AGENDA
Miller introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTIONNO. 2025-6-91 —APPROVING THE CONSENTAGENDA., WHICH
CONTAINS THE FOLLOWING.-
• Approval of the Vouchers
• Approve an Off -Site Gambling Permit for Little Canadian Days, Inc. on August 1-3,
2025
• Call for a Workshop on June 23, 2025, at 6:00 p.m.
• Approve Partial Pay Final Request No. 7 to Albrecht Company for Pioneer Park
Improvements
• Approve Partial Pay Request No. I to OMG Midwest for 2025 Street Improvement
Projects
2
