MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
FEBRUARY 25, 1998
LaValle asked what the Council mi~ht have in mind for a charitable
gambling location for the Historical Society.
Fahey indicated that once the redevelopment of the Rice Street/Little
Canada Road area is completed, there may be new establishments which
would be good locations for a pull-tab site for the Historical Society. This
issue will need to be decided in May of 1999 when the Historical Society
is eligible to operate charitable gambling.
Morelan suggested that as charitable gambling licenses come up for
renewal, the Council is reminded of the Historical Society's impending
eligibility.
It was noted that in addition to the Historical Society being required to
repay the cost of the addition, they will also have to donate 10% of net
profits to the City's 10% Fund.
Mr. Morelan introduced the followin~ resolution and moved its adoption:
RE,407, UTION NO. 98-2-41- APPROVING THE AGREEMENT
WITH THE HI.STORICAL ,SOCIETY OUTLINING THE
PARAMETERS FOR REPAYMENT POR THE COST OF THE
HISTORICAI. The architect is
estimating the budget at $250,000. The results of fund-raising efforts will
further reduce this cost. As a result, the project is gettin~ less expensive
rather than more expensive.
OLD FIRE HALL Council reviewed staff's memo regarding the current capacity at the Old
Fire Hall and the City's ability to increase that capacity should a
Conditional Use Permit for off-site parking be approved.
