MINUTES CITY COUNCIL FEBRUARY 25, 1998 Pedersen pointed out that the City has the option of condemning this property. Fahey asked if the majority of the Council was in favor of condemnation of this site. Pedersen su~;gested that perhaps the City should revisit the plan of locating the theater on the bowlin~ alley property. Pedersen stated that he did not want to see the Winter's parcel become undevelopable as a result of the movie theater being located immediately to the north of this site. LaValle asked how lar~e The Mayfield site was. Joe Vitale estimated that site at 2'/4 acres and The Venetian Inn site at 2'/z acres. Morelan suggested that Kim Wise be asked if he could work a 2'/z acre site into his redevelopment plan. This site would include the Winter's property and the adjacent 91 acres. Steven Hart, representing the owner of the Saxon Lanes, asked how close the theater would be to Rice Street. The Administrator replied that he did not know, but there have been discussions that it would be as close to Rice Street as possible to allow room for an office building adjacent to Lakeside Apartments. Fahey suggested that the Council hold a workshop meeting for next Wednesday night to keep the issue moving forward. Fahey suggested that perhaps the north site should be reconsidered if development on the south would cause the Winter's property to become undevelopable. Fahey stated that at some point some decisions need to be made. The Administrator reported that Kim Wise is interested in the south parcel. Fahey felt the Council had to decide whose property should be acquired and under what means. The Administrator suggested that Michael Schroeder be asked to do some analysis of Option C and take another look at the north parcel. Pedersen again asked that someone look at the Winter's site to determine if it would be a~ood commercial site should the City proceed with Option C.
