MINUT~S CITY COUNCIL MAY 13, 1998 RESOI, IITION NO. 98-S-I09 - DECLARINC THAT THE CITY OF LITTLE CANADA WILL NOT PARTICIPATE IN THE PROPOSED ALCOHOI_ COMPLIANCE CHECK PROGR,4MAT THIS TIME The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by LaValle. Ayes (2) Fahey, LaValle. Nays (2) Scalze, Pedersen. Resolution failed. McMENEMY The City Administrator reviewed the County's plans for up~rade of & L~BORE McMenemy Road and LaBore Road via cold-in-place recycling. As part ROAD of these projects, the County wou(d install bituminous curb and gutter RECYCLING where possible. The City Administrator recommended that a concrete PROJECT curb and gutter be installed rather than bituminous. The Administrator requested that the Council authorize the City En~ineer to look at the feasibility of concrete curb and gutter as well as whether or not any drainage improvements are necessary alon~ these roads. If the City wishes to pursue an upgraded improvement, the City will have to do a cooperative project with the County. However, the County would be agreeable to such a project. There would be some assessments to residents abutting these roads for the concrete curbing. However, it is anticipated the only the difference in the cost between bituminous and concrete would be assessed subject to County cost participation policies. The Administrator anticipated that the projects would move forward next year since quite a bit of planning would be involved. The Council pointed out other projects which the County has done which included concrete curbing and asked how these improvements were paid for. The Administrator replied that the County has a very consistent policy for their cost participation. Anything beyond that policy would have been paid for by the respective City. Mr. LaValle introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION N0. 98-5-110 -AUTHORIZING THE CITY ENGINEER TO UO FURTHER ANA7 YSIS OF THE LAI30RE ROAD AND McMENEMY ROAD PROJECTS TO DETERMINE THE FEASII37LITY OF CONCRETE CURI3 AND GUTTER AS WELL AS DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENTS The fore~oing resolution was duly seconded by Sca(ze. Ayes (4) LaValle, Scalze, Fahey, Pedersen. Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
