MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
NOVEMBER 25, 1998
Lynch suggested that perhaps the portion of County Road B-2 on the west
side of the freeway should be renamed. The City Administrator indicated
that the City decided not to rename that portion of street given that County
Road B-2 extends into Roseville, and the portion of the street in Roseville
will remain a County road, thus will not be renamed. It may be more
confusion to have two street names for a continuous section of street.
Morelan pointed out that the 911 system will tell which city an address is
in. Lynch indicated that he has used 911 and has had no problems with
emergency vehicle response. Lynch stated that he strongly opposed the
name change.
Mr. Morelan introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RE.401 UTION NO. 98-11-2~7-APPROVING A NAME CHANGE
FOR COUNTYROAD 13-2
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Pedersen.
Ayes (2) Morelan, Pedersen.
Nays (3) Scalze, Fahey, LaValle. Resolution failed.
1999 The City Administrator reported on the neighborhood meetings which
IMPROVEMENT were held on the following proposed street improvements:
PROJECTS
*Minnesota Avenue - the recommendation of staff is to proceed with the
improvement and have the Engineer comp(ete the feasibility study.
*Australian and Bluwood Avenues - the property owners supported
delaying improvements of these streets until the next road improvement
cycle. The property owners were informed that no further maintenance
would be done on these streets.
*East Brooks - the neighborhood would prefer not to proceed with the
improvement. However, the street has deteriorated to the point that City
staff does not feel it advisable to leave the street as is. Staff recommends
proceeding with the improvement and have the Engineer complete the
feasibility study.
* Viking Drive from Edgerton to McMenemy - the specific course of
action was not determined given the limited right-of-way and issues with
saving trees. The City Engineer is currently working on these issues, and
it would be staff"s recommendation that the City Engineer be directed to
compiete the feasibility report for this improvement.
6
