MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />DECEMBER 17, 1998 <br />Fahey stated that he liked the Rutzick concept. He was not sure how far <br />south the proposal needs to go, but indicated that he would be open to <br />whatever would work. Rutzick stated that he is confident the restaurant <br />would work and felt there was suf~"icient market for a small amount of <br />retail as well as a market for the office space. <br />Scalze asked why the area immediately east of this concept appears to be <br />open space. Moarn pointed out that the redevelopment plans for the area <br />call for ponding. Rutzick stated that he has no plans for this area. <br />Fahey felt the entire site would need to be laid out. Rutzick stated that if <br />the Council wants his firm to continue the concept, they could lay out <br />plans for this area. <br />Morelan felt that the concept proposal submitted by Rutzick meets the <br />intent of the redevelopment guide. <br />Rutzick stated that they would take this concept, continue to develop it, <br />and bring it back to the Councii. Rutzick stated that they are prepared to <br />move ahead with the development and felt it would take three to four <br />months to complete the development plan. It may be possible to begin <br />construction by middle summer. <br />Fahey suggested that Rutzick work with City staff on his proposal. <br />Pedersen asked if the Moarn proposal included a restaurant. Moarn <br />replied that it did not. Moarn also informed the Council of a building he <br />has under construction in Eagan, and indicated that he would be using the <br />same materials in this proposal. Moarn stated that he would like to see a <br />coordination of materials between the developments in this area. <br />RECESS At this point in the meeting , 8:50 P.M., Council took a short recess. The <br />meetin~ was reconvened at 9:03 P.M. <br />JANUARY Council discussed the rescheduling of the January 13`~' Council meeting, <br />COUNCIL given that the Mayor would be out-of-town on the 13`~' and it is customary <br />MEETING for the newly-elected Mayor to be sworn in at the first meeting in January. <br />It was the consensus of the Councit that the January 13°i meeting be <br />rescheduPed to January 14`~' at 7:30 P,M. Given that the Planning <br />Commission meets at the same time, the Council will meet in the Council <br />Chambers and the Planning Commission will meet in the Conference <br />Room. <br />19 <br />
