Once the Met Council
comments are received, the Comp Plan will again be presented to
the Council for formal review.
PUBLICATION The Council reviewed the information submitted by City staff
OF COUNCIL relative to the publication of Council meetin~ minutes. It was
MINUTES noted that of the cities surveyed, Vadnais Hei~hts is the only other
city, publishing minutes. Fahey indicated that he reading of the
State Statute is that ifthe City does not publish minutes, it must
provide copies to property owners requestin~ them at the City's
cost.
The Council reviewed the cost estimate for publication of a
summary of minutes in the City's legal newspaper. It was noted
that it would be less expensive to publish the full minutes since the
legal newspaper provides a flat rate for the full minutes, but would
char~;e its le~al rate for minutes in summary form.
Pedersen sug~ested that the newspaper publish the summary
minutes at no cost given that they contain newsworthy information.
Pedersen pointed out that the newspaper publishes crime
information, and felt Council action items were more important
than crime statistics.
18
