MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
FEBRUARY 10, 1999
Nardini asked about the location of the bike path. The
Administrator pointed out that there will not be a designated bike
path. Rather the street will be widened to 32 feet that will provide
additional area for bike and pedestrian traffic. The additional
street width will come from each side of the street.
Nardini indicated that the property owners would like to see these
details. Fahey noted that the City will not spend money preparing
plans and specifications until the improvement is ordered.
The Administrator noted that the cold-in-place recycling project
planned by the County is a maintenance project, therefore, it is
field designed and no plans and specs are prepared. The City,
however, has complicated the County's project by proposing
concrete curb and ~utter rather than the bituminous planned by the
County. There will be plans and specs prepared for the curb and
gutter as well as the drainage improvements planned by the
Watershed. The Administrator estimated that plans and specs
would be ready in a week to 10 days and, at that time, property
owners wil( be invited to review them. If upon reviewing the plans
and specs, property owners have concerns, the plans and specs
could be modified.
Nardini stated that property owners want to know where the street
is being widened.
Fahey replied that the City cannot determine this exactly at this
point, buY it is planned that the additional width will come from
both sides of the street. However, as the road improvement occurs,
location can be adjusted to avoid trees. It was noted that the street
width currently varies from 24 to 28 feet, and the improvement
will result in a 32-foot wide street.
Nardini stated that she wants to know that water will go where it
has been proposed to go. She indicated that she is willin~ to pay
for the curb and gutter improvement if it will protect her property.
Kneeland asked about the removal of mailboxes as well as the
loca:ion of the low point of County Road B-2. Kneeland stated
that he was not sure what the plan was for the ditch and asked if
piping would be installed and fill placed over that piping.
The City Engineer reported that mailboxes will be temporarily
relocated if necessary, and then permanently located at the
