MiNUTE5
CITY COUNCIL
FEBRUARY 10, 1999
know that the draina~e problems will be made better as a result of
the improvements.
A property owner asked if bituminous curbing were installed now,
if it could be upgraded to concrete at a later date. Fahey noted that
it would be more expensive to change out the curbin~ to concrete
later on, and it makes more sense to do it now when the road is
being recycled.
Pedersen asked if an analysis will be done to determine that the
recycle project versus reconstruction will address concerns. The
Administrator replied that an analysis will be done and if it is
determined that ultimately the road should be reconstructed to
change road elevations, than the recommendation would be to ~o
to bituminous curbing.
Nardini asked if the Watershed could pay for a portion of the
curbing cost given this area is a major water retention area. The
Administrator pointed out that the Watershed is already paying for
a major part of the drainage improvements and estimated their
costs at over $90,000.
A property owner asked how much the road would be widened in
the area of Dianna Lane. The Administrator pointed out that the
project will be designed in place, and the road width may be
decreased from B-2 if existing conditions do not permit it.
The Administrator reported that initially the County was going to
patch and seal County Road B-2, however, the project has been
upgraded to a recycle project. The Administrator felt that this
project is an excellent example of governmentai agencies working
together.
Forbes asked if there would be any accommodation in the amount
of front footage assessed for driveway widths. The Administrator
pointed out that there would still be gutter in place across driveway
openings. Therefore, properties are assessed on a front footage
basis regardless of driveway width. Forbes asked if it would be
possible for him to decrease the width of his driveway and have
additional curbing placed as a result. The City En~ineer reported
that during the project there will be a field inspector overseein~ the
project. Those details can be worked out in the field with the
inspector.
