MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
APRIL 27, 1999
COUNTRY Fahey suggested that if the redevelopment of the Country Drive area
DRIVE cannot be achieved within the time frame remaining for TIF assistance,
REDEVELOP- than the City should concentrate its efforts on other areas. Fahey felt it
MENT was incumbent on the property owners to work with interested developers
since once the TIF District expires, the City will not have the money
available to provide development assistance.
The City Administrator reviewed the ceport from Maxfield Research
relative to their analysis of the Country Drive area. The conclusion was
that Country Drive was not a good hotel/restaurant site, nor was it a good
office site. Maxfield indicated that office/showroom appears to be the
most feasible. The City Planner also looked at the site and has reported
that Country Drive may be a viable office site.
The City Planner reported that Max6eld Research had done a more in-
depth analysis of the site than he had, and he would agree with their
findings.
The City Administrator indicated that there is always the possibility that
someone would want to develop a hotel or a Class A office building along
Country Drive. However, based on past experience, the Administrator felt
that would be difficult. The Administrator felt that the office/showroom
proposal made by John Allen appears to be the most promising at this
point for the southern Country Drive site. The Administrator also
indicated that there is the possibility of an office building on the northern
site.
The Administrator reported that he has just learned that the Fasciana's
may be interested in selling their property. Therefore, the Administrator
requested authority to pursue the acquisition subject to receipt of voluntary
sale forms si~ned by the Fasciana's.
Mr. Fahey introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOI, UTION NO. 99-4-98 - AUTHORIZING THE CITY
ADMINISTR.4TOR TO PURSUE THE CITY'S PURCHASE OF THE
FA.S~CIANA PROPERTY ON CONDIT AVENUE SUI3.IECT TO
RECEIPT OF VOLUNTARYSAI E FORMS
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Scalze.
Ayes (4) Fahey, Scalze, Morelan, Pedersen.
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
Fahey pointed out that the question of a trafFc study for the Country Drive
area has been raised. The Administrator reported that the Public Works
ls
