MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />MAY 25, 1999 <br />Donovan reported that the Historical Society has selected a gambling <br />manager, and they will be attending the required training sessions that the <br />Gambling Control Board conducts. Donovan also reported that the <br />Historical Society is working with the Gambling Control Board to ensure <br />that their By-Laws, etc. are in compliance with State requirements. <br />Mr. LaValle introduced the followin~ resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTIONNO. 99-5-127-APPROVING THE CONCEPT OF <br />THE HISTORICAL SOCIETY COND UCTING CHARITAI37 E <br />GAMI37.ING ONE DAY PER WEEK AT THE 1.ITTI.E CANADA <br />I37NG0 HAI.L AS PROPOSED <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Scalze. <br />Ayes (4) LaVal(e, Scalze, Pedersen, Fahey. <br />Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />Council discussed the request of the owner of the Market Place Shopping <br />Center for additional sessions at the Little Canada Bingo Hall. Fahey <br />indicated that there was no agreement between the charities on the issue of <br />additional sessions. He su~~ested that the owner and charities get together <br />and come up with a proposal for additional sessions as well as an <br />acceptabte rotation schedule. <br />The Deputy Clerk reported that current Code requires criminal <br />back~round checks be conducted on every member of organizations <br />conducting charitable gambling in the City. The Little Canada Historical <br />Society has over 100 members, and the Deputy Clerk suggested that the <br />Council may want to consider conductin~; these checks on only the <br />ofticers, directors, and employees involved in charitable gamblin~. She <br />also pointed out that the State's background check requirements are not as <br />extensive as what the City requires. <br />Council was agreeable to this su~~estion, and directed City staff to put <br />together an ordinance amendment for their consideration. <br />Fahey thanked Lake Owasso for their cooperation in accommodating the <br />needs of the Historical Society with regard to charitable ~amblin~. <br />GAMBLING The Council reviewed the renewal applications for Gambling License and <br />RENEWAL - Premises Permits submitted by the Little Canada Fire Department. Staff <br />LITTL~ CANADA reported that the application package is complete, and recommended <br />FIRE DEPT. approval. <br />1G <br />
