MINUTES CITY COUNCIL AUGUST 25, 1999 Morelan asked what the advantage was to constructing a fence 8'/2 feet high versus 6 feet high. Terry Reeves replied that they would like the 8-'/z foot high fence to provide privacy, noise abatement, and protection from County Road C. He pointed out that 8'h feet would match the other fencing that exists in this area. LaValle felt that the fencing should be of a consistent height along County Road C. Morelan pointed out that only the Vitale fence is legally conforming since others were constructed without a variance. There was no one from the public present wishin~ to comment on this matter. Upon mc~tion by Fahey, seconded by LaValle, the public hearing was closed. LaValle asked about the cost issue relative to the Lesnick fence variance. The City Administrator replied that staff's recommendation remains the same. However, the Council had indicated a willingness for the City to absorb these costs. Fahey asked about the issue of maintenance of the boulevard area between the fence and County Road C. Reeves pointed out that for the past several years the County has been maintaining this area. However, the County is short-handed and does not have enough personnel to do the trimming. Fahey noted that he lives on a County road and the County does not trim his boulevard area. Mrs. Reeves indicated that they would maintain the boulevard area between the fence and County Road C.
