MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />SEPTEMBER 8, 1999 <br />closed. <br />Mr. Morelan introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RE,SOLDTIONNO. 99-9-237- VACATING THE UTII.ITYAND <br />DRAINAGE EASEMENT IN LOT 1, 73LOCK l, LITTLE CANADA <br />MALL ADDITIONAS REQUESTED 13YR. .7. MARCO <br />CONSTRUCTION <br />The foregoin~ resolution was duly seconded by Scalze. <br />Ayes (5) Morelan, Scalze, Fahey, LaValle, Pedersen. <br />Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />FALSE ALARM Mr. Jeff Lucas, 100 Yorkton Rid~e, appeared before the Council <br />APPEAL - appealing the false alarm charges they received for their property. Lucas <br />JEFF LUCAS pointed out that the security company that monitors their home has <br />admitted that the false alarms are the result of equipment failures. <br />Lucas reported that as a result of being burglarized twice this past <br />summer, he and his wife decided to have a security system installed. <br />Lucas also reported that both burglaries were reported to the Ramsey <br />County Sheriffls Department, and indicated that they were not satisfied <br />with the response from that department. <br />Lucas indicated that he understands the need for City ordinances, but felt <br />that he is a victim of circumstances pointing out that the false alarms are <br />not the result of any negligence on his part. <br />Fahey noted that City staff is recommending against waiving the false <br />alarm fee. Scalze asked what the security company has to say about the <br />fact that the alarms are the result of faulty equipment. <br />Lucas reported that the security company has suggested that he appeal the <br />false alarm charges to the City Council. Lucas pointed out that he and his <br />wife have been good citizens of Little Canada, and again suggested that <br />they are a victim of circumstances in this case. <br />Morelan asked how many false alarms occurred. Lucas reported that there <br />were three. All occurred during the day when no one was at home. Lucas <br />reported that it took until the third false alarm before the security company <br />admitted that the problem was the result of faulty equipment. <br />Pedersen suggested that Mr. Lucas should be seeking reimbursement from <br />the security company for the false alarm bills.
