MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
SEPTEMBER 8, 1999
Both the City Attorney and City Administrator advised Wild North LLC
that they should follow up on this matter since the City will expect that
this assessment is paid.
LaValle indicated that he will not support the purchase agreement as
presented since he feels the property at 2620 and 2580 Rice Street should
be appraised prior to the City's purchasing these sites.
Fahey asked if the City has verified what Wild North paid for 2620 and
2580 Rice Street noting that the purchase agreement indicates that the City
will pay the same price as the properties were acquired for.
The City Administrator reported that Wild North has submitted copies of
the purchase agreements for these properties. However, other documents
will have to be submitted to verify these prices. The Administrator also
pointed out that R. 7. Marco Construction will be reimbursing the City for
the cost of these properties. While TIF assistance will be utilized on the
car wash site, it will not be used on the 2620 and 2580 Rice Street sites.
R. J. Marco will pay the first $345,000 of land acquisition costs.
Fahey asked if the prices indicated are those that Wild North paid for 2620
and 2580 Rice Street. Jay Reiling replied that they were.
LaValle asked if there is currently a tenant in the metal building. Reiling
replied that there was not. He indicated that he had a rental agreement
with someone. However, the City had indicated that the use was not in
compliance with the zoning of the property.
The City Administrator indicated that the tenant who had been in the
building was not legally occupying the space.
Mr. Morelan introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOI.DTION NO. 99-9-241- APPROVING THE PURCHA,SE
AGREEMENT I3ETWEEN THE CITYAND WII,D NORTHLLCAS
RECOMMENDED ]3Y THE CITYADMINbSTR,9TOR AND
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITYADMINISTRATOR TO
EXECUTE THE PDRCHASE ACREEMENT ON BEHALF OF THE
CITY WITH THE INDICATION THAT THE ASSESSMENT FOR
THE DEMOLITION OF THE HOUSE AT 2620 RICE STREET IS A
COST WHICH WILL HAVE TO I3E PAID AND WII.I, NOT BE
ABSORBED 73Y THE CITY AS PART OF THIS TRANSACTION
The foregoin~; resolution was duly seconded by Scalze.
