MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
OCTOBER 13,1999
presented the Council with information on their backgrounds in the
restaurant business, pointing out that they own three Ciatti's Restaurants.
Hours of operation for Porter House are proposed at Sunday through
Thursday from 4:30 p.m. until 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 4:30
p.m. until 11 p.m. The Porter House will be a casually elegant dining
experience with impeccable seivice. The food to liquor ratio is proposed
at 83/17 percent. Seating capacity will be 94 dining seats and 8 seats at
the bar.
The Council discussed the one remaining liquor license provided in the
City Ordinance. It was noted that thaC license is restricted to a minimum
of 100 seats and an investment of $750,000. The investment in the Porter
House will not meet the $750,000 investment requirement.
Council discussed this fact as will as the two additional liquor licenses
authorized to the City by special legislation. These two additional license~
are not authorized by City ordinance, however. It was the consensus of
the Council to amend the existing Restaurant Liquor License requirements
to accommodate the type of restaurant proposed by Schleif and Gullen.
Once the ordinance is amended, the Council will then take action on the
application for liquor license for The Porter House.
Mr. LaValle introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 99-IO-179 - INSTRUCTING THE CITY
ADMINISTRATOR TO PREPARE AN ORDINANCE AMENDMENT
RELATIVE TO THE RESTAURANT LIQUOR LICENSE
REQUIREMENTS BA5ED ON THE DISCUSSION OF THE CITY
COUNCIL
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Pedersen.
Ayes (5) LaValle, Pedersen, Morelan, Fahey, Scalze.
Nays (0).
