MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
OCTOBER 13,1999
Fahey suggested that that may be a reasonable request. Fahey suggested
that the issue that would need to be considered is the effect this would
have on other BW Districts in the City. Fahey stated that he would not
support major manufacturing in the BW Disri•ict.
Bartholie suggested that he work with City staff to put together some
language that would be acceptable to the City and the McCumber's.
Fahey agreed and suggested that the matter be tabled for one month.
Scalze indicated that she would support an expansion of the BW District
that would allow contractor's shops as a quiet, inside use without any
outdoor storage. Scalze pointed out that outdoor storage is a problem
adjacentto a residential area.
The City Administrator asked if the Council preferred the creation of 1
new zoning district to the expansion of the BW District to allow for
contractor's shops. Fahey suggested that staff work on a solution that
will meet everyone's needs. The Administrator asked if the Council
supported manufacturing, auto repair major, or auto repair minor. The
Council did not support heavy manufacturing or auto repair and suggested
that the outside storage allowed be limited in nature. It was pointed out
that McCumber currently has outside storage that is screened.
McCumber reported that outdoor storage is an essential part of any of the
businesses that he leases to. Fahey noted that BW does not exclude
outdoor storage. The Zoning Administrator reported that in the BW
District outdoor storage is allowed and is limited to a certain percentage of
the size of the principle building on the property.
Fahey requested that City staff bring this matter back to the Council with a
recommendation as to the best way to address the matter, i.e. PUD Zoning,
new zoning district, or BW Zoning expanded to allow contractor's shops
including a definition of contractor's shops.
CONSENT Mrs. Scalze introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
AGENDA
RESOLUTION NO. 99-10-177 - APPROVING THE CONS~NT
AGENDA WHICH CONTAINS THE POGLOWING:
*ADOPTING ZONING ORDINANC~ NO. 493 RELATIVE TO A
REVISION OF PARKING STANDARDS AND ESTABLISHING A
PROCESS FOR PROOF-OF-PARKING BY CONDITIONAL USE
PERMIT
