MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
AUGUST 26, 2009
area determination as the only access between the shop and garage would
be through a standard doorway. The Planner also noted that the issue of a
12 foot by 12 foot storage shed on the property was raised at the Planning
Commission meeting. The City Plazmer indicated that the Code requires
that any freestanding shed be removed from the property when garage
space over 1,000 square feet is requested. Therefore, removal of the
storage shed would be an added condition. "Ihe Planner indicated that he
discussed this with Mr. Dahlstrom, who is agreeable, but requested that he
he allowed to retain the shed while constructing the new garage.
Blesener asked if Dahlstrom planned to extend his existing asphalt
driveway to the new garage. Dahlstrom indicated that he did. Montour
asked how Dahlstrom would access the detached garage. Dahlstrom noted
that there will be 12 feet between the new garage and the property line,
and access would be through this area. The Planner indicated that that
access was acceptable. Keis asked if Dahlstrom was agreeable to meeting
the recommendations of the City Planner. He replied that he was.
Montour suggested that a specific date be set for removal of the shed.
"There was no one from the general public present wishing to comment on
this matter.
Upon motion by Keis, seconded by Boss, the public hearing was closed.
Mr. Keis introduced the following resolution and moved its adoptiom
RESOLUTION NO. 2009-8-197 -APPROVING THE CONDITIONAL
USE PERMIT ALLOWING TWO GARAGES (ONE ATTACHED AND
ONE DETACHED) TOTALLING 1,500 SQUARE FEET AS
REQUESTEDBYDUANEDAHLSTROM, 2221 McMENEMYROAD,
SUBJECT TO COMPLIANCE WITH THE RECOMMENDATIONS
OF THE CITY PLANNER AS OUTLINED IN HIS REPORTS DATED
AUGUST 6 AND 20, 2009, ALLOWING THE SHED TO REMAIN ON
THE PROPERTY UNTIL MAY 1, 2010, AND REQUIRING THAT
THE ASPHALT DRIVEWAY BE EXTENDED TO MEET THE NEW
ATTACHED GARAGE
"I'he foregoing resolution was duly seconded by McGraw.
Ayes (5).
Nays (0).
