MINUTES CITY COUNCIL SEPTEMBER 9, 2009 MANHOLE The Public Works Superintendent reviewed his report dated September 2, REHABILI- 2009 relative to the need to rehabilitate eleven manholes and two storm TATION sewer catch basins. These rehabilitation needs were identified as part of the City's continuing efforts to address inflow and infiltration issues. The Superintendent reported that the rehab is done by ]mocking mineral deposits off the walls and pressure washing the entire structure. Large cracks and voids are grouted, and then the entire structure is coated with a mortar coating. The Superintendent recommended that manhole grouting need only be done in the lower portion of the manhole, rather than the entire structure. The Superintendent reviewed the quotes received for this work, with the low quote from Visu-Sewer, Inc. He recommended Option 2 for manhole work, again noting that this would involve the lower portion of the manhole structure. The cost of this work will come from the Water & Sewer Capital Replacement fund. The Superintendent indicated that the work may not occur until the spring depending on Visu-Sewer's schedule. However, the quote will be good until that time. Mr. Blesener introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 2009-9-217-AWARDING THE QUOTE OF VISU-SEWER, INC., OPTION TWO FOR MANHOLE WORK IN THE AMOUNT OF $7, 700.00, AND OPTION ONE FOR CATCH BASIN WORKAT $175.00/t!F. The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Keis. Ayes (4). Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. RICE STREET/ The City Administrator reported that the County may be moving forward HIGHWAY 36 with replacement of the Rice Street Bridge over Highway 36 as soon as BRIDGE - next year. The County has a $5 million commihnent for this project in EASEMENT stimulus funding, and are working on lining up additional funding. As ISSUES part of the project, the County needs easements for sidewalk improvements from County Road B to County Road B-2. 7"wo sites involved are City property that is part of the Melancon Plat as well as the Hostess Bakery property. The Administrator recommended that rather than go through an appraisal and sell the easement over the Melancon Plat to the County, that the City donate the easement area. He also recommended that given the City's interest in acquiring the bakery property for improvement issues related to the Rice Street/County Road 12
