<br /> MINUTES <br /> <br /> PLANNING COMMISSION <br /> <br /> .IANUARY 14, 2010 <br /> Fischer asked how the City will address archeological outcomes. The City <br /> Planner suggested that the City Engineer or City Administrator would <br /> monitor this situation. <br /> Pechma<m noted that when Richie Place was proposed, the City was in the <br /> midst of comprehensive planning and gauging projected growth for the <br /> community over the next couple of decades. Pechmann felt that the <br /> Gervais Woods plat as proposed was nicely laid out, saved trees, resulted <br /> in growth for the community, and addresses the unique layout of the <br /> property. Pechmann stated that he, too, appreciates the efforts That the <br /> developer made in working with the neighbors. Pechmann stated that his <br /> only concern was with the archeological discussions and seeing that this <br /> issue moves forward in a timely manner. <br /> There was additional discussion relative to Mr. Himmelbach's contention <br /> that an archeological evaluation of the area may be necessary, with Mr. <br /> Duray reconunending that Mr. Himmelbach attempt to make some <br /> progress on this issue with the State Archeologist within the next two <br /> weeks. Himmelbach again discussed his findings and indicated that he <br /> had communications with the State Archeologist as well as an Indian rock <br /> expert iu the past. <br /> Roycraft reported that the density of animals in this area, especially deer, <br /> and suggested that the City look into culling the deer herd when <br /> development occurs. <br /> Mr. Duray recommended approval of the Preliminary Plat for Gervais <br /> Woods consisting of 11 single-family lots as proposed by Landmark <br /> Development of MN subject to compliance with the recommendations of <br /> the City Planner as outlined in his report dated January 5, 2010, including <br /> the Findings of tact as stated in his report, with the exception of <br /> Recommendation #1 which has been satisfied by the developer as <br /> discussed this evening, subject to compliance with the recommendations <br /> of the City Engineer as outlined in his report dated January 7, 2010, and <br /> subject to the Fire Department or City Engineer reviewing the temporary <br /> turn around on the western street connection to ensure adequate <br /> emergency vehicle access, and subject to some discussion relative to <br /> archeological impacts relative to Mr. Himmelbach's assertions of artifacts <br /> in the area of the road stub to the east. <br /> Motion seconded by Pechmann. <br /> Motion carried 5 - 0. <br /> <br />
