MINUTP;S
CITY COUNCIL
MAY 12, 2010
Smith indicated his preference for raceway signage as it results in fewer
holes in the building. Smith agreed to provide for sign height consistency
for tenant signage.
Montour indicated that tenant signage on the building should consist of
individual letters and should not be a plastic sign face. Montour pointed
out that the City's efforts relative to sign consistency on the Market Place
Shopping Center. Most of the signage on that building is individually
mounted letters.
Blesener asked about tenant signage on the .Tackson Street frontage. Smith
stated that he would probably not have tenant signage on that side of the
building. Blesener pointed out that should signage be proposed for the
Jackson Street frontage, Mr. Smith would have to apply for a
Comprehensive Sign Plan amendment.
There was no one else present from the general public wishing to
comment on this matter.
Upon motion by Keis, seconded by Boss, the public hearing was closed.
The City Administrator asked if the Council's position was that signage
mounting had to be consistent, either raceway or individually mounted
letters. It was the consensus of the Council that either mounting option
was acceptable for this building given its small size. The Council did
indicate that signage style should be consistent, that is signage via
individual lettering and that plastic face signage would not be acceptable.
Mr. Keis introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTIDNNO. 2010-5-119 -APPROVING THE
COMPREHENSIVE SIGN PLAN FOR 80 LITTLE CANADA ROAD,
LITTLE CANADA PROPERTIES, LLC SUBJECT TO COMPLIANCE
WITH THE RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE CITY PLANNER AND
THE PLANNING COMMISSION WITH THE CONDITION THAT
BUILDING SIGNAGE CONSIST OF INDIVIDUAL LETTERS WITH
MOUNTING STYLEALLOWED EITHER ONA RACEWAY OR
INDIVIDUALLY, AND THAT PLASTIC FACE SIGNAGE WOULD
NOT BE ALLOWED
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Boss.
Ayes (4).
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
