MINUTES

CITY COUNCIL

MAY 12, 2010
The Administrator reported that the road is in very poor condition and
warrants reconstruction. He indicated that a neighborhood meeting will be
held with impacted property owners prior to the improvement hearing.
That hearing is recommended for Monday, Tune 21, 2010 at 7:00 p.m.
Ms. Boss introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOL UTION NO. 2010-5-131- ACCEPTING THE FEASIBILITY
REPORTS AND CALLING FOR THE FOLLOWING
IMPROVEMENT HEARINGS:
MONDAY, JUNE 21, 2010, 6:30 P.M. -ONTARIO ROAD
FROM LABORS ROAD TO CUL-DE-SAC;
MONDAY, JUNE 21, 2010, 7:00 P.M. -FIRST BANK DRIVE
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Blesener.
Ayes (4).
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
CANADIAN The City Administrator reported that two quotes were obtained for
DAYS fireworks at this year's Canadian Days Celebration. The quotes were
FIREWORKS submitted by Precocious Pyrotechnics and R>?S Specialty Pyrotechnics
and both are in the amount of 5,000 with similar display content. RF,S
will be using only 4" maximum size shells and this will negate the need to
clear the lower parking lot. The Administrator reported that Canadian
Days has reviewed the quotes received and prefer RLS given they have
worked with this company in the past. The City Administrator stated that
he, therefore, recommends awarding the quote to RES Specialty
Pyrotechnics.
The Administrator noted the offer for athree-year contract at the quoted
rate. I-Ie indicated his hesitancy in committing to a three-year contract
given the State's budget crisis and the possibility that fireworks would be
a budget cut enacted by the City in future years. He noted that the City
has committed to pay $4,000 of the $5,000 contract cost with Canadian
Days paying the balance.
Mr. Montour introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 2010-5-132 - AWARDING A ONE-YEAR
CONTRACT FOR 2010 CANADIAN DAYS FIREWORKS TO RES
SPECIALTY PYROTECHNICSAND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR
AND THE CITYADMINISTRATOR TO EXECUTE THE CONTRACT
ON BEHALF OF THE CITY
5
