<br /> MINUTES <br /> <br /> CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br /> AUGUST 25, 201.0 <br /> ROAll B EAST - County Road B Fast. It was noted that the Planning Commission <br /> ST. JUDE recommended approval subject to compliance with the recommendations <br /> MEDICAL of the City Planner and the City Engineer. <br /> The City Planner noted that St. Jude is proposing to construct a parking <br /> ramp on the footprint of their existing parking lot located in the southwest <br /> portion of their property. The ramp is proposed to be up to tluee levels, <br /> however, the ground level and first deck will be constructed initially, with <br /> the second deck to be built at a later time. The ramp will add 540 parking <br /> spaces to the St. Jude campus. <br /> The Planner noted that the second portion of St. Jude's proposal is to <br /> move their service drive to the west edge of their property, resulting in <br /> three access drives into their site. One drive is for service traffic, the other <br /> employee tiaPFiq and the third for visitor traffic The Planner indicated <br /> that site distances have been reviewed, and there are no issues with the <br /> proposal. <br /> The Planner pointed out that the proposed parking ramp will have little <br /> visibility from the street given the heavy vegetation nn the site. The ramp <br /> will be constructed from materials that are consistent with those used on <br /> the building. <br /> Blesener asked about impervious surface coverage for this site. The <br /> Planner indicated that it the amount of impervious surface for a site of this <br /> size if fairly low. <br /> Steve Seviola, St. Jude Medical, reported on the need for the additional <br /> parking given problems with adequate parking during shift changes. He <br /> noted that rather than cut down trees on the site, St. Jude has proposed a <br /> parking ramp over the footprint of an existing parking lot. He noted that <br /> currently St. Jude has 459 employees and 462 parking spots. Seviola also <br /> reported that St. Jude has met with its County Road B neighbors to explain <br /> their proposal acid work with the neighbors. St. Jude Medical intends to <br /> continue to be good neighbors. <br /> Keis asked the timePrame for construction of the first phase of the ramp. <br /> Seviola replied that construction will likely start in the spring. Blesener <br /> pointed out that the good news is that St. Jude has added jobs to the <br /> community, thus the need for additional parking. <br /> Lee Rossow asked how employee parking will be handled during <br /> eonsh•uction of the parking ramp. Seviola replied that that will be a <br /> difficult issue that St. Jude will have to address. <br /> 2 <br /> <br />
