MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
OCTOBER 13, 2010
from $8,000 for two of the radii to $1,000. Total cost savings would then
be in the $12,000 to $15,000 range. The City would have to discuss this
trail radii cha~lge with the low bidder to determine their willingness to
make this adjustment. Ii not, that portion of the improvement could he
eliminated from the bid. 'fhe City has the ability under the specs to adjust
the work related to the parks improvements.
The Administrator noted that given the time of the year, it may be
necessary to delay all or a portion of the work to 2011. He noted that
there is a bid alternate that covers this situation should it occur, and that
amount from PFI Paving is $2,365.00.
The Administrator reported that City staff reconunends award of the low
bid as recommended, with the potential for bid reduction amounts as
discussed, and including Alternate #1 should it be necessary to delay work
unti12011.
Keis asked where this expense will be paid from. The Administrator
repoi•led that the City's share of the expense will wme from the <ieneral
Capital Improvement Fund and the 10% Fund. He noted that the Little
Canada Recreation Association has committed to pay $37,500 toward the
basketball court project.
Montour asked if it would be better to bid this work as a part of any 2011
street improvements. The Administrator reported that this was considered
for 2010, however, the City Engineer felt that given the specialty paving
involved, there would be no advantage to do so.
Keis asked about the City Engineer's estimate for the work. The
Administrator reported that the City Engineer used street pricing in
preparing his estimate and did not anticipate the difference in pricing
given the amowlt of hand work that is involved.
Keis again asked about the cost. The Administrator noted the bid at
$156,593.50, plus Alternate #1 at $2,365.00 if necessary, plus engineering
costs of about 20%, less any savings resulting from City staff work acid
radii modification. He also pointed out LCRA's participation at
$37,500.00.
Mr. Blesener introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:

' RESOLUTION NO. 2010-10-236 -AWARDING THE LOW BID OF
FPI PAVING CONTRACTORS, INC.
