H. Administration of Sick Leave. Subject to Paragraph G, the following procedures will be <br />followed in administering the sick leave policy of the City: <br />1. Supervisors may request a doctor's note at any time to substantiate an illness. No <br />employee who has been asked to provide such a statement shall be allowed to <br />return to work until they comply with this provision. <br />2. To receive credit for sick leave, an employee must communicate with his <br />immediate supervisor not later than starting time on the day of illness, or as <br />provided by departmental rules. Employees are also responsible for keeping their <br />supervisors advised of their illness status to remain eligible for sick leave, unless <br />they are hospitalized. <br />3. After all accrued sick leave is used, vacation leave may be used, and payment <br />made thereof, to the extent the employee is entitled to such leave. <br />4. Sick leave will be allowed in case of personal illness or physical incapacity of an <br />employee or with the demonstrated need of the employee's spouse, qt: children or <br />parents. <br />5. Medical Appointments. Employees are encouraged to arrange for doctor, dentist, <br />and other medical appointments before or after your workday. All non <br />emergency medical appointments must have prior approval by your supervisor. <br />Emergency time off will be handled on an individual basis. <br />6. Accumulated sick leave cannot be transferred from one employee to another <br />without approval of the City Council. <br />7. An employee who makes a false claim of sick leave will be subject to disciplinary <br />measures, up to and including discharge. <br />8. Sick leave cannot be combined with normally worked hours or vacation hours in a <br />manner that will generate overtime pay or comp time for the employee. <br />Outside Employment <br />A City employee shall not engage in any employment, activity or enterprise that is inconsistent, <br />incompatible, or in conflict with his /her duties as a City employee, or with the duties, functions <br />and responsibilities of the department by which he /she is employed. <br />The following activities shall be considered inconsistent, incompatible or in conflict with City <br />employment: <br />3 <br />
