MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
JULY 27, 2011
original PUD Permit was issued, there has been additional retail
development in the area. The Planner stated that it appears that the
addition of Mondays to the Dock 86 PUD Permit would have a marginal
impact on traffic. The Planner recommended, however, that the City
provide for the opportunity to revisit the addition of Mondays should there
be a negative impact on traffic.
Rod Johansen, Hom Furniture and Dock 86, indicated that they are
looking to expand their operation to be open on Mondays at the request of
their customers. Johansen also indicated that this would allow for the
hiring of a more professional sales staff as current staff is part -time.
Blesener asked if Johansen anticipated adding additional days in the
future. Johansen replied that they have no plans to do so at this time.
Blesener suggested that Dock 86 be allowed to be open 7 days per week.
Should Dock 86 wish to add additional days, they would not have to come
back to the City for approval. Blesener noted the former Knox and Levitz
retail businesses that operated in this area with no negative impact on
traffic. Johansen stated that he was agreeable to this even though they
have no plans for additional days at this time. Boss and Montour
indicated their agreement.
The City Planner anticipated no problems with a 7 day per week
operation, but again suggested that the ability to review the PUD Permit
be maintained in the event there are subsequent traffic problems.
There was no one from the general public present wishing to comment on
this matter.
Upon motion by Montour, seconded by Boss, the public hearing was
closed.
Montour introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 2011 -7 -137 — APPROVING AN AMENDMENT
TO PLANNED UNIT DEVELOPMENT PERMIT (PUD) TO
INCREASE THE NUMBER OF DAYS PER WEEK THAT THE DOCK
86 STORE CAN BE OPEN TO SEVEN SUBJECT TO COMPLIANCE
WITH THE RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE CITY PLANNER AND
THE PLANNING COMMISSION AS OUTLINED IN HIS REPORT
DATED JULY 8, 2011
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by McGraw.
Ayes (5).
Nays (0).
