Hanson
www.ci.little- canada.nui. us
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Blesener & Members of City Council
FROM: Bill Dircks, Public Works Superintendent
DATE: October 6, 2011
RE: MPCA Air Quality Monitoring Station at Booster Station
Staff was contacted by Bay West, who is working for the Minnesota Pollution Control
Agency, to inquire about setting up an air quality monitoring station on the Booster
Station property on County Road B. The station is mounted on a pallet and stands about
five -feet tall. The plan is to put the station in the fenced in area behind the Booster
Station. The station collects air quality data and is checked daily by a member of the
MPCA. There is a service gate for the fenced in area on the east side that the MPCA can
put its own lock on for access. The station will not be seen from County Road B.
A picture showing the station and its prospective location is included with this memo. A
lease agreement is also included. The lease runs through 2013 with three options to
renew the lease for an additional year. The lessee will pay $150 per quarter for rent and
$50 per month for electrical usage.
Staff recommends approving the lease agreement permitting the MPCA to have an air
quality monitoring station on the Booster Station property.
1
