Manson <br />We responded to an anonymous complaint the building official received about this unit <br />stating this might be a health/safety hazard. We contacted the building office and talked <br />with Ellen Hilla about this unit and we were given access to investigate this complaint. <br />Our findings are as noted below. <br />1. Fire Rated Construction <br />a) The sheet rock has been removed from the walls of this unit. This violates <br />the fire rated construction requirements of the building. <br />b) By removing the sheetrock this has placed the entire building in jeopardy <br />because of the possibility of spread of fire. <br />Minnesota State Fire Code 703.1 <br />The required fire - resistance rating of fire - resistant construction (including walls, <br />firestops, partitions, smoke barriers, floors) shall be maintained. Such elements shall be <br />properly repaired, or replaced when damaged, altered, breached, or penetrated. <br />Electrical <br />c) The open electrical wiring hazard. <br />d) The Minnesota State Fire Code states, " Open junction boxes and open - <br />wiring splices shall be prohibited ". Approved covers shall be provided for <br />all switch and electrical boxes. <br />e) Live electrical wires hanging in the air without covers or in boxes. <br />Minnesota State Fire Code 605 <br />9 <br />
