CITY OF LITTLE CANADA <br />ORDINANCE NO. <br />AN INTERIM ORDINANCE EXTENDING A MORATORIUM ON THE ISSUANCE OF <br />PERMITS FOR ADVERTISING SIGNS, AS DEFINED IN THE ZONING CODE OF THE <br />CITY OF LITTLE CANADA, AND THE ISSUANCE OF PERMITS FOR ADVERTISING <br />DEVICES IN ADJACENT AREAS, ADJACENT TO THE RIGHT -OF -WAY OF AN <br />INTERSTATE OR TRUNK HIGHWAY, AS DEFINED IN MINN. STAT. § 173.02, WITHIN <br />THE CITY OF LITTLE CANADA. <br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF LITTLE CANADA HEREBY ORDAINS AS FOLLOWS: <br />An Interim Ordinance extending a moratorium relating to certain property within the City <br />of Little Canada. <br />(A) Purpose and Intent. The City of Little Canada has adopted a Comprehensive Plan <br />and Official Controls, pursuant to Minn Stat. § §462.351 to 462.354, and the Little Canada City <br />Council has authorized staff to conduct a study and to analyze existing uses, proposed uses, and <br />existing zoning of the property described below within the City of Little Canada, for the purpose <br />of considering amendments to the Comprehensive Plan or Official Controls relating to the <br />property described below. <br />(B) Pursuant to Minn. Stat. §462.355, subd. 4, this interim ordinance, for the purpose of <br />protecting the planning process and the health, safety, and welfare of Little Canada citizens, <br />hereby prohibits the issuance of permits for advertising signs, as defined in the Zoning Code of <br />the City of Little Canada, and the issuance of permits for advertising devices in adjacent areas, <br />adjacent to the right -of -way of an interstate or trunk highway, as defined in Minn. Stat. § 173.02, <br />within the City of Little Canada. <br />(C) This interim ordinance extends the moratorium created by Ordinance No. 615, which <br />will expire on September 26, 2007.
