2. Collection Days. The Contractor shall provide Day - Certain refuse collection. Unless <br />otherwise agreed to by the parties hereto, collection services will be on <br />Wednesday. <br />a. The Contractor may request a change in the day of pickup by requesting <br />such change in writing to the City at least thirty (30) days from the <br />proposed date the requested change is to take effect. A change shall <br />become effective only upon authorization from the City and a <br />fourteen -day notice to the residents. <br />b. The Contractor shall bear all costs involved in notifying residents of <br />approved schedule changes. <br />c. The Contractor may request a change in the route schedule by requesting <br />such change in writing to the City at least thirty (30) days from the <br />proposed date the requested change is to take effect. A route change <br />shall become effective only upon authorization from the City. <br />3. Holidays. The Contractor will observe the following legal holidays on which their <br />offices and operations will be closed: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, <br />Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. When <br />holidays fall on a weekday, the collection for each day of that week after the <br />holiday shall be made one (1) working day later. <br />4. Authorized Pickups. Only such pickups shall be made as have been authorized by <br />the City pursuant to the terms of this Contract, and the Contractor shall not be <br />entitled to payment for any pickups not authorized by this Contract. <br />5. Street Improvements. The City reserves the right to improve any street or alley that <br />may prevent the Contractor from traveling its accustomed route or routes for <br />collection. The Contractor shall bear the responsibility for contacting the Public <br />Works Director prior to each construction season to determine areas of conflict <br />and possible alternate routes or solutions. The Contractor shall maintain regular <br />service during street reconstruction project, regardless of access with no <br />additional compensation for service modifications. <br />6. Administration. Contractor shall maintain an office equipped with telephones and <br />staffed with sufficient personnel to handle complaints, orders for special service, <br />and /or to receive instructions. <br />a. The office shall be staffed from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through <br />Friday (except holidays). <br />-9- <br />- 1 0 - <br />
