SPAAR Funding Request: Staff will be requesting funds from the SPAAR grant to help cover <br />expenses for branded Community Ambassador merchandise to help create excitement and <br />engagement for the program. <br />Community History Lecture Series <br />The Community History Lecture Series is a joint partnership with the Little Canada Historical <br />Society. This three to four-part lecture series will provide historical information on the various <br />community cultures. Dates have not yet been officially developed, but the following <br />organizations have been confirmed for the lecture series: <br />o Little Canada Historical Society <br />o Hmong Cultural Center <br />o Discussions with the Native Governance Center and Latinx(o)(a) organizations are in <br />process for the remaining two lectures in the series <br />SPAAR Funding Request: Staff will be requesting funds from the SPAAR grant to help cover <br />expenses for the event, including costs associated with speakers. <br />Strategic Priority: <br />Creating Supportive Networks <br />o Develop an intentional and authentic outreach plan to historically underrepresented <br />community members <br />Creating Supportive Networks <br />o Develop a program to engage community members using smaller meetings at area <br />businesses for projects <br />Source Of Funds: <br />Grant Application – The SPAAR Key Communities Grant Program is free, so no budget funds are <br />needed. Staff will handle the application process without the use of any consultants. <br />Community Programs - The various programs mentioned above were budgeted and approved as part of <br />the upcoming 2026 Budget. However, costs for various items, including the lecture series and <br />merchandise for the Community Ambassador Program, will fluctuate depending on available funds. <br />Staff Recommendation: <br />Approve staff submitting an application to the St. Paul Area Association of Relations (SPAAR) <br />Key Communities Grant Program. <br />Attachments: <br />None
