Tl:: s can impose a severe burden
on engine pans, Regular exercising keeps engine parts lubricated, prevent: oxidation of electrical contacts
and in general helps provide reliable engine starting. Exercise the gencrau r got at least once a week for a
minimum of 30 minutes with load so the engine reaches normal operating : omperature."
The above recommendation is for optimum performance of the generator ar. d transfer switch system.
When these recommendations are reduced the reliability of the equipment r reduced.
Business or environrnental reasons may call for reducing the exercise peril ;Is. When the customer makes
this decision, they must accept the fact that the reliability of the equipment ■ nay be reduced, We are aware
of customers who run their generator sets at two times a month and have ct ∎od success,
If faced with a situation where the generator set is not exercised as recornn ;nded, often times accelerated
maintenance will help increase reliability.
We fully support the factory recommendations but are trying to provide an ;alternative where exercising
generator time may conflict with local ordinances.
Regards,
Al J46obson
Distributor Field Service Engineer
Cummins NPower
Phone: 651 -636 -1000
Facsimile: 651-286-2111
