5. HB Fuller heating cooling waters.
a. We understand that the HB Fuller Co. was granted an approximate 15 year exemption
from the DNR to use 50,000 gallons aquifer water per day to heat and cool their Vadnais Heights
facilities. After use this water is pumped into Willow Lake, flows under Highway 61 and into the
Beam Ave. cleansing area.
b. Since that exemption has expired it would seem we should no longer be getting the HB
Fuller water to our Lake. But you said that the exemption had been extended. Who extended it,
when, and why? If it was by Legislative action please provide the file number so that we can
pursue shutting down this industrial source of water.
We are sure that you know that our Lake Association is very concerned about waters flowing into
Lake Gervais. Past history would tell us that we should only reach the 860.0 ft high water level
about once every 5 years. But it is obvious that conditions are changing as we had 2 occurrences
of high water in 2003 and many others instances in the 5 year time period of 1998 -2003.
We appreciate your willingness to discuss the water issues with our membership. We are
working to determine a good time to take you up on your offer.
Sincerely - Gervais Lake Association Board Members,
Mugs Nardini — Pres.
f..., rye
m Bailey — Bd Me
Copies via e-mail to:
e
4* W<
Bill Buesing —
Lynda Taklo — Treas.
