MINUTES <br />PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION <br />MAY 3, 2012 <br />Steinert recommended the Leah Broecker bequest be used for a bench in <br />memory of Leah Broecker and the remaining funds used to offset the <br />Spooner Park clearing project. <br />Motion seconded by Heikke. <br />Motion carried 6 — 0. <br />PEDESTRIAN/ The Commission reviewed pedestrian /bike trail connection projects, <br />BIKE TRAIL reprioritizing these projects as follows: <br />SYSTEM <br />PRIORITIES 1. Waterworks Trail /Railroad Crossing; <br />2. Centerville Road /County Road D — Phase 1 (from Spooner <br />Park to Pioneer Park parking lot north exit); <br />3. Country Drive and South Owasso Loop to Waterworks <br />Trail; <br />4. Waterworks Trail /Little Canada Road to Sextant; <br />5. North /South Connection — Country Drive /Rice Street to <br />Troutbrook; <br />6. Sunset Court/Turnquist Wetland Trail to Boardwalk; <br />7. 35E Pedestrian Bridge at Demont Street; <br />8. LaBore Road /DeSoto Street to County Road D <br />9. Centerville Road /County Road D — Phase 2 (from Pioneer <br />Park parking lot north exit to County Road D) <br />10. Powerline Trail /Payne Avenue to Pioneer Park <br />11. County Road B -2, Viking Drive, Demont Connection <br />Projects in the Works <br />*Little Canada Road /Centerville Road to Edgerton Street <br />*Rice Street Trail <br />PARK The Director reported that he is still waiting for the playground <br />ENHANCEMENT equipment replacement /enhancement schedule that a vendor is putting <br />PLAN together for him. Once that information is obtained, it will be submitted to <br />the Commission for review. The Director noted that the City Council has <br />asked that the Commission then prioritize that plan against the trail <br />system priority plan. <br />Sanders submitted to the Commission a list of park enhancement projects <br />that is a part of the 2009 Park System Plan. <br />Maida questioned combining the priorities in one document, asking if <br />parks are used more than trails, therefore, park enhancements may receive <br />funding while completing trails systems would not. Maida was <br />concerned that the fact parks are existing would result in parks receiving <br />4 <br />
