MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
MARCH 12, 2008
that the proposed water increases would result in a quarterly cost increase
of $3.65 on an account averaging 20,000 gallons in usage.
The Administrator reviewed charts which compare the City's sewer and
water rates to neighboring cities. Little Canada's sewer rates are in middle
of what these cities are charging. The Administrator noted that Little
Canada water rates are comparable to the rates being charged by other
cities that purchase water from St. Paul He also noted that cities with
well systems have lower rates, but their customers incur additional costs
for water treatment.
Blesener noted that the rate increase is necessary so that the City can fund
depreciation. The Administrator agreed, and noted that the City will still
not fully fund depreciation under the increase proposed.
Mr. Blesener introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTIONNO. 2008-3-69 -APPROVING THE 2008 SEWER
AND WATER B UDGETS WITH NO INCREASE IN 2008 SEWER
RATES AND INCREASING 2008 WATER RATES AS FOLLOWS:
2008
Winter Rate $2.41/per 1,000 gallons
Summer Rate $2.A9/per 1,000 gallons
Water Service Fee $10.95/per Quarter
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Allan.
Ayes (4).
Nays (0).
