Commission/Council consideration to ensure proper consideration by other staff <br />members and /or the Planning Commission /City Council. <br />7. Provides technical information on building, mechanical, plumbing, and zoning codes and <br />ordinances to the general public, contractors, City Council and City Staff members as <br />requested or needed to ensure a clear understanding of and compliance with regulations. <br />A. Keeps updated on regulatory codes and their interpretation. <br />B. Maintains appropriate certification by State as a Building Inspector. <br />8. Administers flood plain regulations for the City to ensure the safety in the Flood Zone. <br />A. Recognizes potential hazards to the public health and safety and recommends and <br />follows through to see that appropriate ordinances and regulations are established. <br />B. Assures compliance with State and Federal flood control regulations on a day -to- <br />day basis. <br />9. Assists the Code Enforcement Officer and Planner in handling and responding to Zoning <br />Ordinance violations and complaints, and makes inspections to protect the health and <br />safety of the public. <br />A. Recognizes potential hazards to the public health and safety; reports and follows <br />through to see that corrective action is taken. <br />B. Keeps updated on regulatory codes and their interpretation. <br />10. Represents the City in a manner that commands respect of the public, contractors and <br />citizens. <br />A. Attends meetings as assigned or as requested when matters relate to responsibilities <br />assigned. <br />B. Stays knowledgeable regarding on -going City activities through reading of City <br />Council, Planning Commission, and Park & Recreation Commission minutes. <br />Seeks clarification as necessary. <br />11. Keeps the City Administrator, Planner and Department Heads informed of important <br />developments that may be of interest to them, and makes recommendations where <br />changes in policy should be considered. <br />12. Serves as Fire Marshal for Falcon Heights. Requires current knowledge of practices, <br />procedures, and codes relevant to the inspection of Licensed Day Care Facilities, <br />Commercial Properties, Multi - Family Properties, and all other uses regarding on going <br />inspections to ensure appropriate fire protection measures are in place. <br />
