We were proposing to use a 6" diameter well
and pump to accomplish this. The reason we selected this size well was to enable us to also
provide water to stabilize the water level in the storm water pond that will be built along Market
Place Drive as part of that improvement project.
As you may recall we are obligated to Lakeside Apartments to maintain a minimum of 3 feet of
water in the Round lake Pond. The City Engineer has estimated that during a dry year, we would
need to provide 75,000 gallons of water to the pond 8 times to meet our obligation. This can be
accomplished by either filling the pond from a city fire hydrant or from a well. Below are the
estimated costs for each;
City Crew Hydrant Fill One Pond
Labor /Equipment per time (1.5 hours) $ 42
Cost of Water per time (75,000)($1.30) $ 98
Subtotal $140
Number of times 8
Total Cost/dry year $1,120
Fill Pond from Round Lake (4 hour fill time)
Labor per time (.5 hours) $ 14
Number of times 8
Subtotal $ 32
Pump and Piping ($7,000 over 10 -year Life) $700
Total Cost/dry year $732
H: \orcgS \Round Lake Costs3.doc
