MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
AUGUST 14, 2002
Administrator also noted that this issue could be addressed at the time
consideration is given to the reconstruction oFJackson Street.
Fahey asked if there was anyone from the general public present wishing
to comment on this matter_
David Dorn, Jackson Street resident, pointed out existing outdoor storage
concerns at the Poolside site, and asked why there would be reason to
believe that situation would be different. Dorn also pointed out that the
Jackson Street residents would like to see the existing Fence on the west
side of the property remain. Fahey pointed out that Poolside has indicated
that they are agreeable to retaining the fence.
Dorn pointed out that the Poolside business has been growing over the
years and semi truck traffic has been increasing. Dorn requested that the
Poolside sign on Little Canada Road identifying the rear entrance to the
property be removed Stroman indicated that Poolside was agreeable to
removing the sign.
Dorn pointed out that Poolside leases space on the opposite side of
Jackson Street and they run a bobcat back and forth between the two sites.
Dorn reported that Poolside parks this bobcat on Jackson Street. Dorn
asked if the use ofJackson Street for Poolside parking would continue.
Fahey replied that Jackson Street could be posted as no parking.
Dorn noted that the street has been posted as no parking, but Poolside
continues to park there. Dorn was concerned that outdoor storage and
parking violations would continue. Dorn also noted Rob Anderson's
comments at the last meeting that Poolside could not abide by road
restrictions.
Fahey indicated that whatever level of road restrictions are placed on
Jackson Street will have to be abided with. This will be an enforcement
issue for the City, but given the City's limited stall; it will have to rely on
property owners in the area to report the violations.
Dorn again expressed concern about the traffic on Jackson Street, and
indicated that he wanted to ensure his concerns were noted for the record.
Fahey felt the concerns expressed this evening were justified, but pointed
out that the City's last review of the Poolside property occurred in 1986.
There have been no complaints at the Council level about the Poolside
operation for the past 16 years.
