MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL.
AUGUST 14, 2002
Business (R -13) or a Medium Density I lousing (R -2) zoning may be more
appropriate.
Dorn asked about the City ,Administrator's continents in his report relative
to improving Jackson Street to a 9 -ton standard, The City Administrator
reported that his thoughts were that if the road is improved, it would only
need to be a 9 -ton standards up to the southern edge of the Poolside access
drive. Jackson Street Further south could be maintained as a single lane.
Dorn stated that he would support Poolside's Jackson Street access as exit
only, no left turns lie also requested that Poolsideis Little Canada Road
sign be removed.
Fahey asked the frequency ()Ismail trucks using Jackson Street. Dorn
replied that they use the street all the time and park on the road. Dorn
pointed out that after the last meeting when Rob Anderson indicated to the
Council that semi trucks do not block Jackson Street, the next day there
was a semi truck blocking Jackson.
Stroman commented that he was sure N1r_ Anderson would agree to a
sharpened radius for the Jackson Street access point as well as designating
the access as right -turn only However, Poolside is a commercial business
in a commercial area and should be allowed to use Jackson Street as long
as road restrictions are adhered to.
Montour suggested that Nir. Anderson could require his employees to
access the Poolside site via County Road C.
Fahey also suggested that the City could post Jackson Street as having no
semi truck traffic However, he did not think it was unreasonable to allow
small vans on Jackson Street given the area is zoned commercial. Fahey
suggested if Poolside abused restrictions imposed on Jackson Street, the
City could require them to close their Jackson Street access.
Stroman reported that one or the reasons for the addition is to get all
Poolside employees under one roof. Doing this and eliminating the leased
space on the other side orJackson Street will eliminate a lot of back and
forth traffic.
Dorn pointed out that the area was zoned residential and the homes in
existence prior to Poolside While he understands the area is now
commercial, the change was 'breed on the residential homes.
Fahey agreed that the homes may have been there first, but pointed out
that the present owners bought their homes after the zoning change and
b
