frontage being assessed. Therefore it was not felt that a reconstruction of Savage Lane to a 28-
foot two -way road was necessary or cost effective.
While we did not feel that the street did not warrant a reconstruction to a two way street, it was
determined that emergency vehicle access should be maintained to this area thru more than a 10-
foot path. In addition, only one of the two cul -de -sacs proposed could be constructed to the
standard City size requiring a variance for the cul -de -sac option. Therefore, the cul -de -sac option
is not the recommended method of reconstruction.
It is the recommendation of City staff that Savage Lane be reconstructed to a 13 -foot one -way
street from Sextant Avenue to Demont Avenue, as listed in the description above. It will provide
one -way use of the street for residents in the area and provide a safe and reliable emergency
vehicle access while saving a portion of taxpayer money from being expended on a street that
sees very minimal use.
If you have any questions regarding this memo, please feel free to call.
C: \WINDOWS \Temporary Internet Files \OLKFIA3 \Memo - 110603- Council.doc 2
